Vasari makes lime plasters in its own factory in Ventura, California. Everything is built on slaked lime and powdered marble, and the products are zero VOC. We use Vasari when a project calls for it, especially plaster in showers.
Vasari Veneziano
Smooth Venetian plaster with no sand, about the consistency of sour cream. It can be left matte or burnished to a low or high sheen. For high gloss, a third skim coat and burnishing. This is the polished stone look. See our Venetian plaster in Orange County.
Vasari Marmorino
Like Veneziano, with crushed marble sand added. It goes on thicker and can be finished smooth, honed or textured with small craters. It reads more like natural stone than polished plaster.
Vasari Lime Wash is used as a translucent topcoat over Marmorino and Carrera, untinted for a chalky look or tinted for color.
Vasari in showers
This is where Vasari stands out. The Vasari Shower System includes a shower basecoat that bonds over a waterproofing membrane such as RedGuard. Then plaster, sealer and wax. Done right, you get a seamless plaster shower with no grout lines.
Shower plaster is not a DIY project. The waterproofing and the curing matter as much as the finish.
Primer, sealer and wax
- Primer: Vasari Mineral Primer as the base.
- Sealer: Vasari Mineral Sealer protects against water, stains and dirt without changing color or sheen. On ordinary walls, plaster generally doesn't need sealing.
- Wax: recommended in showers, on top of sealing.
- Colors: 60 standard colors plus custom matching.
